Our current representation of money (the fiat monetary system), like any monetary system, only exists in the minds of humans.  The fiat system is an attempt to relate value to a number.  However, this system relies on the assumption that every exchange must be reciprocated with equal value - this defines the fundamental misrepresentation which introduces the following tangible problems in our society.
